After a long period of separation, this evening I decided to catch up on friends from elementary school, Mark and Raellen Mandelbaum and their kids. I was so sorry to find this obituary and the news regarding the termination of Mark and Raellen's marriage..I am touched that so many friends and colleagues had such kind memories regarding Mark and all four children. I am sure that they have grown up to be fine people and a credit to their parents. I gather from the text of the obituary that Mark and Raellen are on good terms. I hope that someone will transmit my wishes to Raellen's family, all of whom.I will do my best to see.
Belated condolences,
Steve Kramer and Sheryl Goldstein

Lots of fond memories with Mark! We first met in Bangkok in 2004, then he offered my company to work with him at ACM and we signed a contract in Buenos Aires later in 2004 to work exclusively in Latin America. He participated in all our company’s sales events in Panama, Cartagena, Colombia, Río de Janeiro, Brazil, and many many more places around the world! We actually talked about his train rides from Matawan, NJ to NYC. His favorite train from NYC to Watawan is at 4:20pm every week day! I respect and enjoyed working with him until his passing away! My condolences to his family!!

Mark, I'm going to miss talking football with you, and the way you would grimace and shake your head when the topic of Eli's interceptions came up. I always appreciated your "keep moving forward" approach to life and your stalwart smile in the face of adversity.
Go Giants.

Working with Mark for ten years at ACM was a pleasure! Not one conflict or argument in all that time. You were a good leader! You will be sorely missed!

We were so lucky to have been able to share fun times with Dru and Mark and we were inspired by Mark's bravery dealing with his illness. We will remember his sense of humor, stories of traveling the world, New York Times crossword puzzles, discussions on soccer (Chelsea have lost a dedicated supporter). Most of all we will miss our brother-in-law and dear friend. Love and prayers to the family.

The day he left ACM, I snook into his office, closed the door behind me, looked straight at him and said:
"Mark, I've known you since...1993... I may not have always agreed with you... but I have to say, I always *respected* you."
He paused, looked back at me over the tips of his glasses, smiled and replied:
"Thankyou for that".
The Pubs. Dept. was never, ever the same.

Mark was the smartest, kindest, and funniest friend I had. He loved to love life-always laughing, rarely serious-minded,and a true,down-to-earth person. Randy and I will never forget the many good memories we all had together. So sorry.

So sad to hear of Mark's passing. He was Director of Publications for the Association for Computing Machinery in New York for many years and oversaw the maturing and significant expansion of ACM's technical publications program. As such, his work contributed greatly to the computing profession. And, he always showed great hospitality to the many ACM volunteers who traveled to NYC to work with ACM; I learned how to eat well in midtown thanks to Mark. My sincere condolences to the family.
