Mary A. Ondrey (nee: Senkow), 91, of Eatontown, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Paul Ondrey, who predeceased her in 1950. Loving mother of Andrew Ondrey. Cherished sister of Frances Duffy, Michael Senko, Andrew Senkow and the late Walter Senkow, Joseph Senko, John Senkow and Josephine Senkow Thomas. Mary is survived by many nieces, nephews and god-children. Born and raised in Braddock, Pennsylvania to the late Michael and Anna Senkow, she met the love of her life, Paul who was a Sergeant First Class in the Army Signal Corps, having served in World War II and Korea. They married in 1941 and his service brought them to Fort Monmouth in Eatontown, where they settled in 1948. Mary has been parishioner of St. Dorothea's since 1949. She also worked for over 38 years in accounting at the Naval Ammunitions Depot - Earle in Colts Neck. Mary was a dedicated volunteer and devoted mother and god-mother who was loved by all and will be missed dearly. Family and friends may visit Thursday, 3-5pm at the Braun Funeral Home, 106 Broad Street, Eatontown, NJ. Funeral Service will commence at 4:30pm. 1 Year...later...and Mary is still remembered as a quiet and sweet lady always giving a warm welcome to me at the Gold Star gatherings. I didn't have the privilege of knowing her as a young woman...can imagine all she did was done with love for her family and people like me who later experienced the same set backs in our lives. So appreciated her!

Mary was in attendance when the Azalea Chapter was formed in 1969. She loved Gold Star Wives. At Conventions and Conferences her humor kept us laughing and she was very much appreciated. Andy your mother left us many memories. May she Rest in Peace.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Mary, but know our Gold Star Wives who knew her loved her. Thank you Mary for your and your families love and sacrifices to our Country. As we know, Gold Star Families serve our fellow countrymen and families in so many ways. May you rest in peace as you join your love. GSW National President, Judi Van Cleave.

Mary A. Ondrey was one of the most caring persons I ever knew. I too am a Gold Star Wife. About three weeks after my Beloved was buried in Arlington, my phone rang. Days earlier I'd joined the Gold Star Wives of America, Inc. group. Mary was so assuring to me. She shared feelings to expect. She was so right. Then, she had been a widow at least twenty three years. Now it is forty-eight years later. Not only was she my Sister in Gold, she became my mentor. I "came up" in the ranks of GSWA, Inc. Mary was the wind beneath my wings. We accomplished plenty. It was not all work. It was lots of fun. The longest was a "Lucy and Ethel" trip to Pittsburgh, PA. I drove and she was the tour guide. As Middle Atlantic Region President, I was visiting the Pittsburgh Chapter. For Mary it was a trip home. We had a grand time with her extended Family. I loved being with them, but better was to watch the Love all had for each other.
Mary is already missed.
One day we'll be neighbors in Arlington National Cemetery. She'll welcome me to our forever home, I'm sure.
Andy, your Mom was the best!
