Mercedes McHugh Obituary
AGE: 84 • Jackson
Mercedes Eleanor McHugh, 84, of Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at home. She was born in East Orange and resided in Lyndhurst before moving to Jackson 33 years ago. She was employed by Metro-Pak Division of Kraft Foods in cost accounting, Lyndhurst before her retirement in 1980. Mrs. McHugh was a former communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Lyndhurst, where she also was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Mercedes enjoyed making crafts and she loved to sew.
She was predeceased by her parents, Carl and Mary Hoffmann; and her daughter, Peggy McHugh of Guttenberg. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Thomas B. McHugh; her 3 daughters, Patricia Cummings of Jackson, Mary Tauber and her husband Fred of Lyndhurst, and Eileen Ghandour and her husband Joseph of Wayne. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013 at the George S. Hassler Funeral Home, 980 Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson. A funeral gathering will be offered at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 at the funeral home, then proceed to Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Arneytown for an 11 a.m. chapel service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mercedes' memory to the American Cancer Society, 1035 Hooper Ave., NJ 08573. Hello, this ist Alexander Roth from Munich, Germany. First I want to adress my deep sympathy for Miss Mercedes McHugh. I will pray for her.
Miss McHugh is my mothers cousin. Mercedes is child of Carl Hoffmann, who was my mothers uncle, who emigrated from Munich to the states (new jersey) in 1926. They had two children, Mercedes and Albert "Freddy". Carls brother was Arthur, my mothers father, who stays in Munich.
