Michael "Mike" P. Durrof

Toms River, NJ - Michael "Mike" P. Durrof, 78, of Toms River, NJ passed away unexpectedly on March 25th, 2021 at Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, Lakewood, NJ.

Mike was born in Bayonne, NJ and spent his childhood there. He attended Bayonne High School then went on to Monmouth University and later earned his Master's Degree.

Mike settled in Toms River in the late 1960's with his wife Joan whom he met in college.

He went on to a 40 plus year teaching career in the Toms River Regional School District teaching at several schools after finally settling in for a long career at Toms River High School East as an American History Teacher. Mike was passionate about teaching and US history. He spent many summers traveling the USA with his family visiting nearly every historic landmark and National Park.

Mike was a lifelong NY Yankees fan and enjoyed classic cars. In his retirement he and his wife enjoyed trips to Disney World.

Mike was a communicant of Saint Justin's Roman Catholic Church, Toms River, NJ.

He was pre-deceased by his loving wife Joan C. Durrof and his parents John and Estelle Durrof. Surviving are his sons John M. Durrof (Michelle) of Point Pleasant, NJ and Michael C. Durrof of Toms River and twin granddaughters Elise and Lauren Durrof of Point Pleasant, NJ.

The arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 995 Fischer Blvd. Toms River, NJ. Cremation is private. A Memorial Mass will be offered on Monday April 12, 2021 at St. Justin's RC Church Fischer Blvd. Toms River, NJ at 9:30 am. Interment will immediately follow to St. Joseph's Cemetery Toms River, NJ.
