Michael A. Petrocco Jr., 67, of Manchester, died Friday, April 3, 2009, at the Meridian Hospice Center, Brick. He was employed as a government logistician for 20 years at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown before retiring in 2003. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963. He belonged to the Central Jersey Rifle & Pistol Club, Jackson and was a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He attended St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Lakehurst. Born in Jersey City, he lived there and in Brick before moving to Manchester in 1994.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Jungsberger Petrocco; a son and daughter-in-law, Lt. Colonel Michael and Lisa Petrocco of Fort Hood, Texas; four daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Louise Petrocco of South Brunswick, Danielle and Jack Aberta of Orange County, N.Y., Jessica and Jackie Petrocco, at home; two brothers, Ronald of Winter Haven, Fla., and Bill of Estero, Fla., a sister, Marie Norton of Barnegat; and three grandchildren, Nicole and D.J. McDonald, and Samuel Petrocco.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 5 at the Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Road, Manchester. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday, April 6 at St. John's R.C. Church, Lakehurst. Entombment will follow at the Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
