Nanette Frances (nee Altamura) Swordsma

Marlboro - Nanette Frances (nee Altamura) Swordsma - 64, of Marlboro, NJ formerly of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ peacefully passed away on July 16, 2018. Beloved wife of Henry Brian Swordsma and devoted daughter of Faye and the late Joseph Altamura. Nanette is survived by her twin sister Mia Shernoff and her husband Frank of Manhattan, her brother David Altamura and his wife Tina of River Edge, and her sister Gina Friedman and her husband Greg of Ramsey. She was the aunt to the joys of her life, Russell, Joey, Aidan, Nicholas and Zachary. A graduate of Hasbrouck Heights High School, Nanette received a BS from Montclair State College. After years of dedicated service as a software programmer and IT systems analyst at GAF, and then at Continental Insurance, Nanette retired in 2012. During the past several years, Nanette spent so much of her time caring for others and lovingly reaching out to those in need. She was a member of the Colts Neck Reformed Church Quilter's Club where she created special quilts for the sick and underprivileged, was a member of Habitat for Humanity and worked on many additional charitable causes. She was an active member of the senior choir in Old Brick Reformed Church, participated in Jeopardy, and enjoyed traveling with family members. Nanette will be missed by all she touched. A private service will be held for the immediate family arranged by Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ. A Memorial Service to celebrate Nanette's life will be held on Saturday, July 28th at 10:30 am at the Colts Neck Reformed Church, 139 County Road 537, Colts Neck, NJ 07722. All are welcome.
