Nelson C. Joline

Port Monmouth - Nelson C. Joline, 79, of Port Monmouth and formerly of Colts Neck and Little Silver, died at Riverview Medical Center on Wednesday Dec. 30th after battling complications from COVID-19.

He was born in Long Branch and raised in Little Silver before graduating from Long Branch High School. Nelson attended Monmouth University and was a member of the Long Branch Police Department where he served for over 32 years, retiring at the rank of Captain. Nelson also served the city as an exempt member of the Independent Engine Company, a Long Branch Fire Department. He was also an active member of the Root Beer and Checker Club, Fair Haven. Prior to the restraints imposed by the Coronavirus, Nelson helped facilitate weekly meetings that brought in speakers and members of the community to their weekly luncheons. He, along with other members, enjoyed their weekly club bike rides on Sandy Hook.

Nelson most fondly remembered his years waterskiing on the Navesink River with his wife and was always ready to spin her around the dancefloor. After having children, you could always find him on the sidelines cheering and being the most supportive Father and then Grandfather. It was the love of his family we remember most and how he could always be seen with the family's Golden Retrievers at his side. Nelson is missed and loved after being taken far too soon.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Patricia, their children Michelle Joline and Brian Joline, and Brian's wife Jonelle and their two children, Addison and Scarlett.

A private entombment will be held at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
