Nicholas J. Zecchino

AGE: 64 • Middletown

Nicholas J. Zecchino, 64, of Middletown, NJ, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012 peacefully at home. He was born January 15, 1947 in Newark, NJ, son of the late Pasquale & Mary Zecchino of Middletown. He worked as a Road Dept. General for NJ Turnpike Authority for 29 years and was an Army Veteran. Nicholas was a quiet, kind & gentle man. He always had a smile, very proud of his children and adored his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Ann McKenzie of Virginia. Survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Theresa Zecchino of Middletown, NJ; son, Frank Mercier & his partner Fred Faul of AZ; son & daughter-in-law, Michael & Jessica Mercier; daughter & son-in-law, Danielle & Jason Basile; 4 beautiful & loving grandchildren, Michael Jr, Brendon Jay, Mia & Ryder; brother, Joseph Zecchino of VA; brother & sister-in-law, Pat & Dianne Zecchino of Hazlet; sister, Susan Donnelly of VA, many uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received 7-9pm Tuesday, 2-4 & 7-9 pm Wednesday at the Laurel Funeral Home, 201 Laurel Avenue, West Keansburg, NJ 07734. Funeral Thursday, January 12, 2012 with a 10:00am Mass at St. Catherine's Church in Middletown. Interment will follow in the NJ Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
