AGE: 81 • Manchester
Orest Leszega, 81, of Manchester died at home on Saturday, May 12 in the loving arms of his family. Born in the Ukraine, Orest arrived in the United States in 1950 and resided in Edison for 30 years before retiring in 1997 to Forked River, finally settling in Manchester in 2011. Orest was an avid skier and loved to sail. He is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Stefania Leszega and brother Jan. Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Evelyn J Hunkele Leszega, and his children; Michael A & wife Carol of Woodbridge, Karen Stefania DeStefano of Whiting, Thomas A of Edison, Stephen O & wife Brandy of Junction City, LA, and his 7 grandchildren, Victoria, Michael, Kevin, Gregory, Cadie, Anastasia, and Stephen Orest. Orest worked as the director of service for Herman's Sporting Goods in Carteret for 30 years prior to his retirement. Visitation is Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd Manchester. A mass will be held at 11:00 at St. Stephen's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1344 White Oak Bottom Road, Toms River, with interment to follow at St Joseph's Cemetery, in Toms River. Hi Dad, I miss you more than words can express. I promise to do my best to take care of your queen and her castle. You left us all with only good memories that we will re-live the rest of our lives. I will try my best to follow in your footsteps in the years to come. Thank you for giving me such a wonderful life. I love you and miss you.

Orest was a very kind and wonderful man. I've only met him a few times but I knew from the first time I met him, my sister(Brandy)was marrying into a wonderful family with him at the helm. He always made her feel welcome as well as her entire family. The world lost a wonderful man and heaven gained a wonderful angel..

My Poppop was the most wonderful man: gentle, a genius and strong even in the end. I feel I've lost so much more than I can express as I was so lucky to be as close as I was to my Grandfather. He made me feel like our family, and me as an individual, were safe - and even with him now being gone, I still feel looked after and guided in an inarguably perfect way. I will love and miss him eternally.
