Patricia "Patty" Seaman

It is with deep sadness that we announce that Patricia "Patty" Seaman, passed away unexpectedly on December 19, 2020 at the age of 64. She was a professional artisan painter and the owner of Paint Passion retail store in Red Bank, NJ.

Patty was born on December 30, 1955 to Joseph and Barbara Seaman and grew up in Little Silver, NJ. Patty graduated from Red Bank Catholic high school and then attended Centenary College for 2 years. She later received her Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She resided in Alexandria, VA for many years working as a staffing recruiter before returning to New Jersey in 2008 to help her family care for her mother in Little Silver. It was then that Patty decided to start an artisan paint business and sold specialty paints online. She later opened her small shop in downtown Red Bank and built so many great relationships with her customers. She managed the shop and also enjoyed doing commission work with her two sisters Karen and Diane. She was wonderfully talented and a true artist at heart.

Patty had an outgoing, fun loving personality and was always able to make people smile. She loved to laugh and much of her life revolved around her close-knit family and many dear friends. She would especially look forward to the annual road trips that she and her sisters would take to Springfield, Ohio to visit their beloved Aunt Pat Wickham, Patty's namesake. She also enjoyed many yearly trips to Cape Cod, New Orleans and occasional travels abroad.

She is survived by her beloved siblings Karen Donnelly, Thomas Seaman, and Diane Simays, her two brothers-in-law Gerv Donnelly and Mike Simays and her eight loving nieces and nephews; Grace, Gus, Nolan, Chris, Gregoire, Amanda, Tyler and Adam. Patty will be deeply missed.

The family asks that memorial donations be made in Patty's name to a local food bank of your choice.

I’m sorry for your loss. When covid hit NJ and I was inside trying my best to keep sane by updating a very old dresser that I purchased second hand years earlier Patty’s upbeat attitude and passion for painting was a welcomed guide and cheer leader for me and my project. She is missed.

I recently heard about Patty’s passing. I am shocked and saddened. I met Patty 2 years ago when I took a chalk painting class. She was a lovely person with such a cheerful personality.
This past October Patty and her sister’s Karen and Diane chalk painted my bedroom furniture. It now means so much more to me.
Patty, you will be missed. ❤

I just heard the terrible news about Patty’s sudden passing. My mother Sandra Fichter worked with Patty at NRI Madison in DC in the 80s and they were good friends. Patty was a lovely person, kind and really funny. Praying for Patty’s family and her loved ones during this difficult time.

I could not believe my ears when I heard that Patty - the vibrant, enthusiastic one with the twinkle in her eye, had passed. Patty and I shared our birthday and every year would reach out to each other at least on that day. I worked with Patty at NRI for 9 years and truly loved and appreciated her. We would meet again over the years at our mutual friends home on the Cape and laugh and laugh. I will miss her and this just makes me so sad. Hugs to the Seaman family...

Dear family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Patty’s passing. I only met her once at the Markham Place School Reunion in 2014 with Tom. I could tell she was a lovely woman and I appreciated her passion for paint. I wish I had made it to her shop in Red Bank before it closed. I know she will be greatly missed by you all, her friends, and the community. May God comfort you with special memories of your beloved Patty.

It is with great sadness that I have just found out that Patty has passed away at such and early age. I pray for her family and that her journey to Our Lord's Paradise will be short and filled with all of his Love, Mercy and Compassion. May Our Lord keep Patty's family strong and may Our Lord help remind us that our lives are the sum total of the path that we walk through life, the friends we make, the compassion we provide and the family & friends we love. The world has lost a shining light & beacon of love. Please know we pray for Patty & her family during these sad times. Love Lou

In the early 80s I was asked to interview some gal named Patty Seaman for a position as associate with our recruitment firm. During that interview, her enthusiasm, sparkle and absolute savvy were hard to ignore. My recommendation was.... she seems terrific but I’m not sure it can be real! Well a few weeks later we all knew...patty was genuinely honestly and unabashedly sparkling champagne in the flesh.
We worked together in the legal field of DC for a number of years. Cynical people. Hard competition. She never wavered. She always was a top recruiter and formed the best relationships with the hardest core folks in the city . Patty’s effervescence carried us all through good months and bad. Years later, as both of us had moved on, Patty stayed as a stalwart friend, a compadre of the first order. One of the ones you could call at 3 am and tell the truth to.
We both became Annie Sloan retailers together -/she being the one that brought me into a sisterhood of artisans and experiences that changed my life. We had chats where I laughed till I could no longer breathe. We had talks where I could say my deepest of thoughts and not worry of judgement. She loved me. She loaned me money. She gave me a laugh. She accepted me despite my shortcomings.
I have met an Angel on earth. I called her friend. She was better at it than I.
Patty I’ll never know one like you. But I WILL remember you and with that memory be better at everything I do until the day I come your way.
