Peter Lenihan, 80, of Asbury Park, passed away on Thursday February 9 at Manor by the Sea in Ocean Grove. Born in Queens to Edward and Francis Lenihan. Peter was one of three brothers. After proudly serving his country, Peter moved to New York city where he worked for The American Express Company until he retired. During his time in New York he met his soul mate and life partner of 40 years, Thomas Devenny. They lived and worked there for many years. After semi retirement they later moved to Greenwood Lake NY, where they opened and operated their own very successful restaurant, The Greenwood. While Tom ran the kitchen, Peter ran the front of the house from behind the bar and as Maitre d. They were famous for the Sunday brunch and equally as infamous for their elaborate New Years Eve parties which were invite only. However, Peter and Tom would always close on Thanksgiving Day when they would host a multitude of family and friends. After a great long run, they sold the restaurant and moved to Brielle to join family. They were very active with the Brielle seniors. They loved to travel and were always on the go, making new friends wherever they went. They finally settled in Ocean Grove where they remained very active in the community, serving meals to those in need ,for Meals on Wheels. After losing the love of his life, Peter moved to Asbury tower in Asbury Park, where he enjoyed a beautiful view of the ocean. Peter is survived by his brother John, his sister-in-law,Margaret, his sister-in-law Celeste, lots of loving nieces and nephews, and close friends of many years. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Ocean Grove Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
