Peter Thomas McHeffey

Shrewsbury - Shrewsbury - Peter Thomas McHeffey. It is with tremendous sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Peter Thomas McHeffey, age 64. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He passed suddenly on July 12, 2018.

He is predeceased by his parents Murray and Mickey McHeffey; brother David McHeffey and nephew Keith McHeffey. He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 44 years Christine Ganz McHeffey; his son Peter Thomas McHeffey, Jr. and his daughters Meredith Anne Price and her husband Sean Price and Caitlin Elizabeth Olesky. Peter also leaves behind his grandchildren whom he loved so much - his grandsons Cullan Sean Price, Aidan Joseph Olesky and granddaughters Isla Christine Price, Keirra Dawn Price and Elle Sophia Olesky due September 2018. Peter also leaves behind his siblings Lawrence McHeffey and his wife Lynn, Barbara Atkinson, Michael McHeffey, Connie Madigan and her husband Kevin, John McHeffey and his wife Jeanne, William McHeffey, Robert McHeffey and his wife Alison and James McHeffey and his wife April. Peter leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Peter grew up in Little Silver, NJ, and graduated from Red Bank High in 1971. He went on to further his education at Providence College in Rhode Island and ultimately spent many years working for Skiing Magazine and Motor Boating and Sailing Magazine. In his later years Peter was a very talented, self-employed painter and he enjoyed this profession very much. Peter enjoyed life and easily made friends wherever he went. His greatest love was his children and grandchildren and he loved spending his time with them. Peter loved the NY Mets, the NY Giants, he loved playing golf and was a fantastic skier in his day. Peter especially loved his morning cup of coffee and his daily NY Times crossword puzzles which he often times finished front to back in pen. Peter had many friends and was loved by all he met. He could always be counted on for his humor and wit and he will forever be missed and loved. Funeral arrangements are private under the direction of Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ. Dear Dad - forever we will have Chatham.

Peter- I just found out about your passing and it just staggered me. We're too young for this passing away business. You were my first friend when my family moved to Ridgewood in 1957. You and your family welcomed us with open arms and I will always be thankful that you did. We had some real "Stand by Me" adventures there Pete. Rest easy my friend.

To Christine and to the entire family and all of you that Are left behind after Peters demise. My heart goes out to you all for the loss of Peter. He will live in our hearts and memories for ever. Peter and I were Friends in high school. Fondest memories of Peter are when the two of us skipped school back in 69 to go see the Mets beat the Braves at Shea in a playoff game back in those days. The last time I saw Peter was in our 10 year reunion from Red Bank High. It was THE high point of the trip for me, coming back East from San Diego. At the after party, Peter gave me a Mets t shirt, which I still have. Peter was a good man. The comments expressed in the other sentiments above, from all of you are sooo true. Love you, Peter. You too, Christine. I will always cherish the friendship and memories of this special man. Happy trails, brother. Thanks for the fond memories, so long ago. You will always be in my heart. Thanks.
