Peter J. Spina Sr., age 80 of Brick, NJ died on Wednesday, 2/23/2011 at his home. He was born in Manhattan, NY and lived in Greenwich, NY before moving to Brick 42 years ago. He proudly served his country for over 20 years in the US Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean & Vietnam War's. He retired from the Navy in Nov. 1968 at the rank of HM 1st Class. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association and was member of the Master Gardeners of, NJ, & held a Bachelors Degree in Sociology. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his grandson, Christopher Paul Spina in 2002. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Shirley (Plamondon) Spina; his sons, Peter J. Jr. and his wife, Stacey of Toms River, NJ and Daniel W. of Brick; his three daughters, Eva M Tafaro and her husband, Tony of Toms River, Donna T. Van Mater and her husband, Albert of Clearwater, FL and Adrienne Vollmer and her husband, Chuck of Manahawkin, NJ; his nine grandchildren, Tiffany, Adam, Amanda, Anthony, Danielle, Elizabeth, Brian, Nikki, & Bridget; two great grandchildren; Destiny, & Brody and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Sunday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Laurelton Memorial Funeral Home - 109 Pier Ave. Brick, NJ 08723. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, 10:30 AM at St. Mary Of The Lake R.C. Church in Lakewood. Burial will be held privately on Tuesday at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown, NJ
