Robert C. Brittle, of Cedar Knolls died on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Care One of Hanover in Whippany. He was 89. Born on October 25, 1923 in Newark, NJ, he grew up in Maplewood and resided in Whippany, Manasquan and Tinton Falls before returning to Cedar Knolls to be with his loving family. Mr. Brittle served in the US Navy from 1942-1946. He attended Newark College of Engineering and graduated from the New Jersey State Teachers College with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Education. He was employed by Tung-Sol Electric in Plant Engineering. He then spent 25 years as Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools for Hanover Twp. As a resident of Manasquan, he was a member of Manasquan FD H&L #1, and served 13 years as Captain of the "Fire Police." He was also an avid Mets and Jets fan.

He was the beloved husband of the late Doris (Marcusson). He is survived by a son, William Bruce and his wife Mary Sue and a daughter, Carol Susan Nafey and her husband F. Kenneth. He is also survived by five granddaughters: Mindy Sue Brittle Boegershausen and her husband Brian; Lisa Marie Brittle DeMichele and her husband Robert; Kristina Lynn Brittle Dziamba and her husband Tom; Karyn Elaine Nafey; and Laura Ann Ashley and her husband Austin.

A Graveside Service will be held at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 11 am.
