Robert P. Chambliss, 83, of Toms River, NJ and Holiday, FL died on Monday, June 30, 2014.

Bob was an auto mechanic for George Hughes Chevrolet in Freehold, NJ, retiring in 1997. He loved anything with a motor. If it had an engine, he could diagnose the problem and fix it. He proudly served his country in the Air Force from 1951-1955 during the Korean War.

He was an avid fisherman, boater, kayaker, and dog-lover. He will be remembered most for his sense of humor, his big heart, his perseverance, and his willingness to help his friends. If it needed doing, Bob would do it.

He was predeceased by his parents Cortez and Mary Chambliss.

Surviving are his wife Roberta and five children; Debra von Koch and her husband, Alexander, of PA, Steven Chambliss and his wife, Melissa, of DE, Kathy Chambliss of MD, Cheryl Chambliss and Alan Goodnoe of NJ, and Beth Lanzisera and her husband, Dominick, of NJ. Also surviving are a brother, Joseph Chambliss, of NJ, a sister, Joan Torella, of FL, six grandsons, five great granddaughters, eleven nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Autumn.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 for the memorial gathering from 11am-1pm at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River, NJ.
