ROBERT HOWARD EMMONS
AGE: 60 BRICK
Robert Howard Emmons, 60, of Brick, passed on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood, after a long struggle with diabetes. Born in Newark, he was raised in Scotch Plains and later moved to Brielle. He graduated from Manasquan High School, and was active in the Brielle First Aid Squad and volunteered at Point Pleasant Hospital for five years before it closed. He was at the grand opening of Brick Hospital, now Ocean Medical Center and a volunteer there for 10 years.
He is predeceased by his father, Harold Orville Emmons; and his brother, Richard. He is survived by his mother, Margaret. He also leaves his aunt, Shirley Conk of Vero Beach, Fla.; nephew and niece, James Gibson and Barbara Dayton of Howell; and niece, Judy Kiesler of Laurel, Del. He will be missed by his caregiver, Gwen Lewis.
Visiting will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 21 at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 22 at the funeral home; arrive 10:30 a.m. Entombment in Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Diabetes Association, 19 Schoolhouse Road, Somerset, NJ 08873. www.silvertonmemorial.com.
