ROBERT R. KURMIN
AGE: 81 JACKSON
Robert R. Kurmin, passed away Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at his home. He was born in Point Pleasant to Robert and Dorothy Kurmin and was raised in Lavallette and Philadelphia, Pa. Bob was a graduate of Central High School, Philadelphia, LaSalle University, Pennsylvania and Officers Candidate School of the U.S. Navy. He served our country as executive officer on Destroyer Escorts during the Korean War. Bob was the founder and owner of Kurmin Insurance Agency. Prior to operating his own business, Bob worked with The Insurance Company of North America and as Director of Surf Building and Loan in Seaside Heights. Bob raised his family in Middletown and Wall and retired to Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., where he thoroughly enjoyed the views of the water and golf course from his patio. Bob and Betsy returned to New Jersey in 2005.
Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betsy and their children, Kathi Kurmin of Wall, Bob Kurmin of Bradenton, Fla., David Kurmin and his wife Jackie of Maumee, Ohio, Peter Kurmin and his wife Marie of Marshfield, Mass., and Laura Hunt and her husband Greg of Wall. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cayce Kurmin, Bobbi Dee Hallenbeck and her husband Eric, Jennifer and Ethan Fria, Anna, Sarah and Benjamin Kurmin, Megan, Andrew and Brian Kurmin and Matthew, Hannah, Samuel and Daniel Huntl and his great-grandchild, Mackenzi Hallenbeck. In addition, Bob is survived by his sister, Florence Liddie of Saratoga, Calif.; and his brother, Arnold Kurmin and wife Pat of Wall.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009 at the Johnson-McGinley Funeral Home, 2652 Highway 138, Wall, adjacent to the Route 18 north entrance.
