Robert Morley Obituary
AGE: 86 • Oceanport
Robert John Morley, Sr, 86, a 55 year Oceanport resident, died Thursday, September 12, 2013 at St. Barnabas Hospice at Monmouth Medical Center. Bob was born June 24, 1927. His first 7 years were spent in Duesquene, PA; then the family moved to the Jersey Shore. In 1958 he and his family moved to Oceanport. Bob served honorably in the US Navy Seabees during WWII and the Korean War. He continued to be active with the MCB 6 Seabees alumni. After military service Bob was hired by Ft Monmouth where he worked for fifty years, retiring as Chief, of Boiler Plant Operations. He was Captain of Port au Peck Fire Company in 1962 and Chief of Oceanport Fire Companies in 1965, remaining active during his life. Also he was a life member of the Oceanport First Aid Squad and Port au Peck Fire Dept. He was a Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge, Navesink #9 and VFW of Port Monmouth. He was predeceased by his wife Mary Gillispie Morley, formerly of Bloomfield in 1988, his two sisters, Charlotte Cutler and Matilda (Babe) Pullman, and his parents Verna and Thomas Morley. Surviving are his brother Bill and wife Viola of Eatontown, four children; Catherine Jampel of Long Branch, Thomas and girlfriend Eva Fauvre of San Diego, CA, Robert Morley, Jr at home, and Christopher and wife Cindy of Port St. Lucie, FL., as well as six grandchildren; Bob III, Janine, Marissa, Caitlyn, Cheriden and Leeann, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered fondly by his longtime companion, Jackie Cole.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 20th from 5-8pm at the Braun Funeral Home, 106 Broad St., Eatontown with Masonic Service at 7:15PM and a Fireman Service at 7:30pm. Military honors and ex-chief farewell celebration will begin at Braun Funeral Home on Saturday September 21st 10:30am and continue onto Port au Peck firehouse. All are welcome to lunch at firehouse immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Port au Peck Chemical Hose Company No. 1, 433 Myrtle Ave., Oceanport, NJ 07757. I will be forever grateful to you and Mary for allowing me to be a part of your family as your daughter-in-law for the last 28 years as the wife of your son Christopher...We have had a wonderful life and have given you 2 beautiful grand daughters that will forever know where their daddy came from...when they asked us to take them to you while you were in the hospital we booked the next flights to make sure they got to say their goodbyes they will remember that moment for forever...we wish you much love, peace and guidance as you now take your journey and when you see Mary & My Dad Doug be sure to tell them how we are all doing and will continue to do well because you all taught us how..GOD BLESS
