Robert Stecz of Toms River passed away March 22, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by his family in the arms of his wife.

That day the world lost the strongest, bravest, most courageous human being. Bobby valiantly battled melanoma for 5 years and won, as the good Lord took him home to be in peace. Bobby was a kind, gentle soul with a sincere heart and infectious smile. He had more life in him than anyone could hope for in a lifetime. His enormous generosity was shared by all who knew him. Always willing to lend a hand to family, neighbors and friends. Even strangers he would meet, as was his outgoing personality. Bobby was the iconic family man. A loving and caring husband, father, son, brother, etc…, Bobby's children were the light of his life. Bobby was the light of all of our lives.

Bobby retired after 40 years as a mason foreman with the heavy and general laborers union local 472, during those years 27 of them had been working with Schiavone Construction.

No one loved their job more than "Bobby, working hard"!, proclaiming "I'm over here now" as he stepped out of his truck. His fantastic sense of humor was appreciated by all in his company. Bobby will be terribly missed. His adoring wife will be forever broken hearted, as will his children and his former wife, Patricia Stecz, who has been a compassionate supporter throughout his journey.

We would like to thank Dr. Peter Mencel and his associates for the compassionate care Bobby received. Don't be sad when thinking of Bobby, but cherish his memories.

Bobby so enjoyed life. He was champion softball pitcher, #16. He loved the outdoors, always working on a project or building something. His talents were remarkable. His favorite pastimes were crabbing, hanging with his buddies drinking Amstel Light, a B & B and smoking a cigar. Of course while enjoying his favorite teams the Yankees and Giants.

Surviving are his loving wife Elizabeth Stecz, his cherished children Robert T. Stecz, Shawna Marie Stecz and Lindsey Ann Stecz. His mother Jane Stecz, his brothers Raymond and Richard, sisters Roxanne Daiuto and Rosanne Sauickie, former wife Patricia Stecz, and we could not forget his faithful companion Gigi.

Visiting will be Sunday 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Rd., Toms River. Funeral services will be Monday 11:00 am at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park. www.silvertonmemorial.com.
