Russ & I met about 1970. My brother Nick married his daughter, Donna. Russ was a great help to me as a young newly married guy who was short on funds. He helped us to get deals on cars through is connections, advised us on insurance matters, home ownership and such. I liked and respected Russ. I would bet that he is already running some projects on the "other side".

I met Russ in the third grade. He was my grade school chum, junior high crush, and high school "steady." After our marriage ended in divorce we remained friends. I will miss him.

Russ was a good man. I met my father-in-law to be in 1967 when I was a freshman in college. He was an energetic, excitable, and sincere person, who always had time for others. He was a stern task master with strongly held views -- it is no coincidence that he named his boat "My Way" -- and he was not one to back down when challenged. When he ran for the mayor's office, he walked every inch of the town and won over the voters with his sincerely held views of honest government and fiscal restraint. He worked tirelessly to get a new Library built for Lacy. He wasn't always easy to get along with (not one to just roll with the punches) but his heart was always in the right place. The poof of the pudding is the three fine daughters he raised with his wife Claire Marshall: Donna, Dale and Lynn. He will be sorely missed. Rest easy and in peace, Russell.

My heartfelt condolences on the passing of a wonderful gentleman. I met Russ through politics and, although on differnet sides, he was always an honest and forthright person. My respect for Russ (and Pat) grew when, in 1992 my wife died at a young age. Russ and Pat were the first persons to come in, even though we had numerous difference. Good Bless Russ.
