Sharon Cook Jankowski
Port St. Lucie - Sharon Cook Jankowski of Port Saint Lucie, FL went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 8th after a nine year courageous battle with Alzheimers. She was 64 years old.
Sharon grew up in Wall Twp., NJ where she graduated from Wall High School. She went on to attend Glassboro State College earning a degree as an art teacher specializing in clay with an endorsement in special education. Settling in Marlton, NJ she taught at Haddon Township High School, Sterling High School, and Croft Farms in the summer. Over the years she touched the lives of so many students who loved her.
Sharon had a real love of music whether she was playing her guitar, singing, dancing, or just listening. Her biggest joy was watching her daughter Moriah move through her journey in her music endeavors.
Sharon's greatest love besides raising her daughter was serving God at her church, The Waters. Some of the things she took part in were their worship team, teaching New Believers' Classes, dancing with the Judah Dancers, feeding and clothing the homeless, and ministering in the streets of England. Her life was always about helping others.
Sharon was predeceased by her Father George Cook, Mother Vera Goodwin Cook, Maternal Grandmother Helen Goodwin, Maternal Grandfather Samuel Goodwin, Paternal Grandmother Lillian Cook, Paternal Grandfather Clifton Cook, and beloved aunts, uncles, and friends.
Sharon is survived by her daughter Moriah Naomi Stinson and her husband Hayden, sisters Gail Winsor and Bonnie Dunbar (Bob), nephews Chris Winsor (Katrina) and Shayne Kmiec (Amanda), Uncle Rev. Earl Cook, a great nephew, a great niece, her cat Rock Star who was her buddy up until the end, and many cherished cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Sharon at a later date.
In Sharon's memory donations can be made to Alzheimer's Community Care in Stuart, Florida. She attended their daycare for 18 months where she thought she was volunteering to help others. They depend on donations to provide the many wonderful activities patients are enriched with every day. As they can't take donations directly, make checks payable to Gail Winsor Alzheimer's Community Care Donation Fund and mail to 1821 SE Camden Street, Port Saint Lucie, FL 34952. All monies will then be forwarded to the center Sharon attended. They also appreciate Visa gift cards and gift cards to Dollar Tree and Walmart.
