Theodore G. Fornicola Jr.

Theodore Gerald Fornicola Jr., 90, died August 4, 2021. Born in Asbury Park, NJ, and an alumnus of Asbury High School, he was a lifelong New Jerseyan. Whether you called him Ted, Bear, Dad, Pops or Poppy, you knew he loved you when he bestowed you with a nickname. Ted had a zest for life and welcomed you to enjoy it alongside him with his wry sense of humor and infectious smile. A devoted family man and Catholic, he worked tirelessly to raise his family and spent countless hours supporting generations of family members at their sporting events and ceremonies. He enjoyed bocce and playing horseshoes. Ted's love of sports, cards, food and pulling pranks fostered innumerable family memories.

Ted was predeceased by the love of his life, high school sweetheart, and wife of 65 years, Josephine; beloved grandson, Joseph Roch; parents, Theodore and Mary Fornicola; and brothers, Robert (Bobby) and Donald (Ducky).

Ted cherished his three beautiful daughters, Maryan Fornicola of Tinton Falls, NJ; Lynda & John Roch of Downingtown, PA; and Joy & Richard Lehmann of Jackson, NJ. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Teddi & John Gugliuzza, Scott & Sally Thedwall, Alex Thedwall; John Roch, Joseph Roch, Mark Roch, Christopher Roch; Ryan & Danielle Lehmann, Courtney & Ryan Andersen, Eric & Jill Lehmann, and Kristyn & James Corey; and 8 great grandchildren Riley, Rori, Zoey & Aubri Roch; Gianni & Mikayla Gugliuzza; Ryder Andersen; and Connor Lehmann. He is also remembered by his siblings, Fred (Bird) & Marie Fornicola and Joan Aldarelli and many other family and friends.

Please join us to celebrate Ted's life. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 8th, from 2:00 to 5:00pm at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Route 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall NJ 07719. His Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 9th at 10:30am at St. Catharine's Church on 215 Essex Avenue, Spring Lake, NJ 07762. His entombment will follow in St. Catharine's Cemetery, 1000 West Chicago Boulevard, Sea Girt, NJ 08750.
