Thomas Andrews Obituary
Manchester - Thomas E. Andrews, 88, of Leisure Village West section of Manchester Twp., NJ, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at Community Medical Center, Toms River.
Born in Manhattan, NY, he was a lifelong resident of the Midland Beach section of Staten Island, NY before moving to Manchester 7 years ago.
He was a US Army Korean War veteran, attaining the rank of Corporal.
Thomas began his career as a Police Officer with the New York City Police Department in 1953. After 6 years of service, he joined the New York City Fire Department and served for 21 years before retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the Firemen's Local 94, Cross & Cockade Intl., where he served as Secretary and Vice President, the LVW Players, the Staten Island Square Dancers, and the Current Events Club.
Thomas also was a master toy maker and piano player.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary (nee Jacobs), his four children Marybeth Andrews and her husband Brad Michalove of Atlanta, GA, Thomas F. Andrews and Bonnie Curry of Staten Island, NY, Robert Andrews of Atlanta, GA, Timothy E. Andrews and his wife Regina of Amityville, NY, six grandchildren Thomas Andrews, Steven Andrews, Katelyn Andrews, Lindsey Andrews, Robert Andrews, Nicole Lum and her husband Michael and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 2-4 & 7-10pm with a funeral service to be offered at 3:30pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River.
