Thomas Maggio Obituary

(Asbury Park Press)

THOMAS GORDON MAGGIO
LITTLE SILVER
Thomas Gordon Maggio, of Little Silver, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at his home, after a courageous battle with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. He was born in Lancaster, Pa. and raised in Summit. He graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy, Wayne, Pa. and Kean University. For 27 years, he owned and operated Odyssey Sound Studio in Long Branch, where he engineered and mastered the recordings of the Shore area's most prominent musical performers. His clients remember him as a talented musician and songwriter in his own right who merged his musical abilities with technical expertise. He later went on to a second career as the computer network administrator for the Oceanport Board of Education.
Tom was the beloved husband of Sharyn Wizansky Maggio for over 33 years and the beloved father of Lindsay and Amy. Tom was one of three children born to the late John Benjamin and Doris Stahr Maggio. He was predeceased by his older brother, John, in 1963. In addition to his wife and daughters, Tom is survived by his sister, Ann Nankervis, along with countless other family and friends who were blessed to know him. Tom loved being with his family, sailing and playing tennis.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering from 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16 until a words of remembrance service begins at 4:30 p.m. at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Joan Dancy & P.A.L.S. Foundation, c/o Riverview Medical Center, 1 Riverview Plaza, Red Bank, NJ 07701, or online at www.joandancyandpals.com.
