Thomas Marinelli Jr.

AGE: 79 • West Long Branch

Thomas Marinelli Jr., 79, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, following a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis, while surrounded by his loving wife, family and friends. He was born in Newark, NJ and moved to Long Branch, NJ at age 5 and then to West Long Branch, NJ before moving to Naples, FL in 2011. He was a 1952 graduate of Long Branch High School, distinguishing himself in sports. Tom earned 4 letters in four different sports. He was a member of the 1952 State Championship football team and the 1952 State Champion baseball team. He was a Varsity basketball member and a Freshman track member, where his 4 man relay team won the 880 yard relay in record time in 1949. Tom served his country in the Army stationed in Germany from 1954-1956. He was employed by National State Bank in New Jersey before retiring in 1999. In retirement, he was employed at Monmouth Park Race Track - He was a familiar face on Partiere I in the Club House as usher for more than 22 years, prior to retiring in 2008.

Tom was predeceased by his parents, Thomas L. Marinelli Sr. and Lena Panaggio-Marinelli. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Mary Ann Marinelli; son, Thomas Marinelli, III and his wife Tracey; daughter, Lisa Marinelli-Brodzicki; grandchildren, Ryan Brodzicki and Jessica Marinelli; step grandson, Grant Ellis; sister, Elaine Maccoli and husband Vincent Maccioli and nephew, James Maccoli and wife Cathy Maccioli.

Graveside services were held at Palm Royale Cemetery in Naples, FL on Saturday, Dec. 14. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom's memory can be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org. To leave a condolence for the family, go to www.fullernaples.com.
