Tillie Jochem Obituary
AGE: 101 • Manchester
Tillie S. Jochem, born Sarah Matilda James, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Rose Garden in Toms River, under the care of Grace Hospice at the age of 101. Born 1911 in Rickertsville, PA, she was raised in nearby Palmerton, PA until she left for Washington, DC. She worked there for 12 years at the Office of International Trade in the Commerce Department and became a section supervisor during WWII. In Washington, she met her husband, George W. Jochem and moved to live in East Rutherford until 1958. After moving to Fairfield, NJ for 10 years, her husband retired from his management position in the shipping industry and they moved to Manchester in 1968. Tillie resided in Manchester until her death. She is survived by a daughter, Gayle Ward, and was predeceased by her husband, George, and her brother, Roy E. James. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Manchester First Aid, P.O. Box 22, Lakehurst, NJ 08733. Arrangements by DeGraff Lakehurst Funeral Home.
