Vincent Applegate Obituary
AGE: 87 • Cliffwood Beach/Old Bridge
Vincent E. Applegate, Sr., 87, of Cliffwood Beach/Old Bridge, passed away, Friday, August 3, 2012, at Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hazlet. Born in Cheesequake/Old Bridge, he resided there before moving to Cliffwood Beach 60 years ago. He was a clerk and warehouse foreman with National Lead, Sayreville. Vincent was very active in the church and community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and coached CYO basketball, Little League Baseball and Pop Warner Football. He was an avid reader and sports fan.
Vincent was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Josephine Elingham Applegate; two brothers, Melvin and Floyd Applegate; and his sister, Bernice Zangenberg. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lorraine Kapperer Applegate; his loving children, Vincent E. Applegate, Jr. of Cliffwood Beach, Marilyn Ackermann and her husband, Donald of Toms River, and Lorraine Reynolds of FL; 12 cherished grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Vincent will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are invited Sunday, August 5, 2012, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735; and Monday, August 6, 2012, 8AM at the funeral home, with a 9AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence RC Church, Laurence Harbor. My deepest sympathies to the Applegate family on the loss of Vince. I knew him as both a neighbor and from St Lawrence and he had a heart of gold and always had a smile on his face. My heart goes out to Lorraine because they were truly sole mates and best friends.
