Vincent Keogh
Neptune - Vincent J. Keogh (Uncle Vinnie) passed away on August 25, 2021. He was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ to the late Thomas and Elizabeth Keogh (nee Wilderman) on September 1, 1932. He would have been 89 on his birthday. He graduated from Ferris High School in 1950 and Rutgers University in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. He moved to the Jersey Shore in 1977 and liked to purchase homes with a water view.
His first job was as a newspaper copy boy for the Jersey Journal. However, he moved on to the relatively new field of Computer Science, designing and implementing computer systems for several companies in New York City and New Jersey. He retired from MERCK Pharmaceutical Company as a Computer Analyst.
He served in the US Army Signal Corps during the Korean War from 1953-54. While in Europe, he traveled to several countries, but Austria was his favorite. He was a member of American Legion Post 346, Neptune, NJ.
Vincent enjoyed collecting and studying coins along with acquiring many fine art collectables. His quiet, sharp, sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. He loved his family and was especially fond of and generous to his grandniece and grandnephews.
Vincent leaves behind his sisters, Margaret E. Keogh, and Patricia A. Monroe and husband James M. Monroe; nephew Thomas Monroe and his wife, Susan, grandnephews Matthew and Thomas; nephew Kevin Monroe and his wife Kate, grandniece Anna and grandnephews Michael and Kevin. He will also be missed by his life-long friend, Tony DeMarco, and his wife, Joan.
Visiting hours are on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (masks required) at Ely Funeral Home, Neptune. A Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Innocents Church, Neptune. Interment will follow at St. Catharine's Cemetery, Sea Girt.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Innocents Church St. Vincent dePaul Society.
