William McGarity Obituary
AGE: 83 • Toms River
William Patrick McGarity 83, of Lake Ridge, Toms River died Friday, January 29, at home. He was employed as a Court Clerk for the New York State Supreme Court, New York City for 40 years before retiring in 1995. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-57. He was a parishioner of St Mary of the Lake Church, Lakewood. He also belonged to the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Knights of Columbus. Born in New York City, he lived there and in Belle Harbor, NY for 45 years, before moving to Toms River in 1997. Surviving is his loving wife, Cathleen (Barry) McGarity, 2 daughters and their husbands, Ellen and Eric Tress of Manalapan, Cathy Ann and Robert St. Arnauld of Tennessee, a son, William J. and his wife Lisa of Paradise Valley, AZ, and 8 grandchildren, Lisa, Eric, Laura, and Kevin Tress, and Mia, Meadow, Michael, and Macee McGarity. A memorial funeral liturgy will be offered on Monday, Feb 8, at 12 noon at St Mary of the Lake Church, Lakewood, with interment of cremated remains and military honors to follow at the Brigadier Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the St Jude Tribute Program, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
