Charles Wooten Obituary

Charles Joseph Wooten
His legacy of clever clichés, a unique gift to bring people together, a love for football, a passion for the Raiders and Oregon Ducks, the comradeship he believed in transformed his business, the Cigar Box in downtown Marysville into a family.

Charles Joseph Wooten, the charismatic Marysville business owner, loving & devoted son, brother, brother-in-law, a proud uncle and friend passed away December 19th, 2012. From the moment Charles arrived in the world, March 3, 1970, he had an extraordinary heart, a passion for all people and a special way of connecting with all mankind. His ability to reach out to strangers, connect and create a dynamic family among his friends and customers at his business, the Cigar Box, was a special gift that will always be treasured.

Charles, son of Ronald and Beverley Wooten was a life long resident of Marysville. He grew up loving adventure. As a child, he loved to camp, fish & hunt, play football, snow ski, water-ski and had a life long passion for collecting and restoring treasures. His passion for growing and restoring down town Marysville came as no surprise! After purchasing the Cigar Box from his parents, his motto was, "when it's all said and done, we'll need a wheel barrel to take it to the bank"! He evolved with the family business through one customer at time and encouraged a strong commitment among patrons and family to each other. Charles supported and sponsored youth football players through the Marysville programs, believing every child with a heart for football must play!

Charles was a loving and amazing young man. He was truly special to many people and will be missed dearly by family and friends. "And so I've come to the place where no matter what happens in my life, I know there are reasons for it all, even if it's the loss of people, time and things, life might get messy, I will still bring good out of it," he recently shared.

Charles is survived and greatly missed by his parents, Ronald and Beverley Wooten, his sisters Rona Wooten Desmond and Stacy Wooten Baker, and brother-in-law, Peter C. Baker, a niece Lunden Taylor Desmond and nephews, Ty Easton Baker, Maxwell Grant Baker, Pierce Crichton Desmond, and paternal grandmother Jessie Wooten.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Herbert and Eva Joy Yore and paternal grandfather, Glenn Wooten and uncles Charles Yore and Wilbur Wooten.

Private service will be held for the family. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 1-5pm at the Cigar Box in Marysville.

A scholarship for the Marysville Youth Football program will be set up in memory of Charles Joseph Wooten.

My prayers to the family - I will always remember that sparkle in his eye, the raised eyebrow, the snap when he wanted your attention, and that crooked little smirk when he got one over on you. He was one of a kind - and loved by many - respected by everyone - and will be missed by all.
