Christine Ashly

Christine Ashly, beloved mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, at 80.

Born in a small town outside Flint, MI, Christine was the daughter of Cecil and Verna Hill. At sixteen, she moved with her family to Southern CA, where she attended High School and College.

She graduated with a Masters in Education from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA. She later moved to Yuba City, CA, where she was an active resident for over 45 years.

Christine dedicated her life to education and to inspiring young people. She taught Physical Education at Yuba City High School for 35 years.

She was known for her kindness, enthusiasm, and unshakable belief that everyone could "learn something new every day," a phrase she lived by and shared often.

Outside the classroom, Christine was a true social butterfly who found joy in connecting with others. She loved spending time in her garden, her peaceful haven, where she nurtured both her plants and her spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her three brothers, Alan, Dave, and Lynn Hill. She is survived by her two children, Tanda, the rebel, and Elias, the serious one; and her granddaughter, Tatumn, the sensitive one.

Christine's warmth, humor, and curiosity will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

A celebration of Christine's life will be held on November 9, 2025, at CityWalk Church; 1460 Richland Road, Yuba City, CA 95993.

The gathering will start at 3 PM and is open to anyone in the community who would like to attend. Those who attend are encouraged to bring a food item to share.
