Danny Guynes Obituary

Danny Hulsey Guynes passed into the presence of his Lord on October 20, 2024.

Danny was born in Denison, TX, on March 13, 1941, to John and Mattie Guynes. He was the youngest of six children. When Danny was three, his family moved to CA and settled in Yuba County.

Danny graduated from Wheatland High School, where he eventually met the love of his life, Jackie, and they were married in 1962. Over the next five years, two children were added to the family, first Danna and finally Brad.

Danny started his career in the automotive industry in 1966, where he was a technician for John C. Bayes Ford.

He became shop foreman in 1969, and promoted to Service Manager in 1974. In 1986, Bayes was then purchased by Larry Geweke Ford, where he then retired for a total of 34 years.

Danny enjoyed working with his hands to repair and restore automobiles. Danny also enjoyed camping with his family, RVing across the country with Jackie and one of his most loved activities, showing off his classic cars at car shows.

Danny is survived by his wife, of 62 years, Jackie of Wheatland, CA; daughter, Danna Rasmussen (Don), of Turlock, CA; son, Brad Guynes (Heidi), of Plumas Lake, CA; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mattie Guynes; brothers, John Guynes Jr., and Harold Guynes; sisters, Pauline Guynes, Betty June Harrison, and Mary Francis Guynes.

Celebration of Life will be at 11 AM on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the Wheatland Community Hall, 101 C Street, Wheatland, CA.

Danny is greatly missed and was such a kind person! Our hearts are broken and hope the family finds comfort in having such a wonderful man in their lives! He was our landlord for years and he always treated us with kindness & compassion. He also instilled in us the importance of yard work, but only in a positive way, lord knows he liked a nicely landscaped yard haha! He was like a father figure in that aspect, always fair, always kind!

I first met Danny in 1972 when I was working for Merle House at Anchor Motors in Yuba City. I had a question about a new part replacement for a problem and the then Service Dispatcher, Clarence Reed, for John C Bayes Ford directed me to Danny to get the needed information.
Over the years I worked as Parts Manager for several Lincoln Mercury dealerships and when Danny became Service Manager at Bayes and later at Geweke Ford
I could always count on Danny for a knowledgeable answer if I had a question with Ford protocol or service issues.
It was my pleasure to get to work with Danny at Geweke Ford, Yuba City from 2007 until Danny retired. Danny was always "fair" and somehow kept a great attitude while walking some pretty "tough" roads that the auto industry had made.
I´ll never forget your smile. Thanks for being someone that a person could count on.
Keep smiling
