Donald Jones Obituary

Donald Gilbert Jones was born on May 10, 1949, and passed away on August 19, 2025.

He is survived by his brothers, Norman Leroy Jones (Craig Louise) and Douglas Eidson Jones (Kathy); his nephew, Blake Jones; and his nieces, Cari Lewis, Emily Paine, and Erin Kirk; his great-nieces, Kelsey Lewis, Callie Paine; and his great-nephews, Camden Lewis, Bennett Paine and Declan Kirk.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Edward Jones and Frances Gilbert Jones.

Don enjoyed athletics and played football and baseball through his elementary school years.

Right after his eighth-grade year he played in a men's fast pitch softball league. At Yuba City High School, he played football and baseball all four years.

He was elected vice president of the student body his senior year. After graduation from high school, he worked for the local mosquito abatement.

After high school, he attended San Francisco State University. He worked as a cook throughout San Francisco, CA.

He was very interested in Oriental Medicine and was tutored by a Chinese practitioner in SF. In 1975, He attended the Meiji Institute in Osaka, Japan, for a three year program studying acupuncture and other aspects of oriental medicine.

In 1997, he returned to Yuba City, CA, to care for our mom, until she passed away in 2006. He did not want her to go into a nursing home. Don then returned to San Francisco, CA, the city he loved.
