Doris Bullard Obituary

January 28, 1940 to July 7, 2025

Our beloved Nana, Doris Bullard, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She is now reunited with her husband, Jim, and resting easy in eternal peace.

A lifelong resident of Wheatland, CA, Doris spent 85 wonderful years in this community calling it home.

Throughout her life she wore many hats, working hard in agriculture, driving a school bus and serving as custodian at WHS, as well as driving a tractor in the early days at Bishop's Pumpkin Farm.

She was deeply involved in her community through organizations such as the Wheatland Plumas Brophy Fire Department, Wheatland Historical Society, as a 4-H leader, and with the Native Daughters group.

She touched the lives of many with her kindness and hardworking spirit.

Doris was truly one of a kind. A spunky, social butterfly with a sharp wit and a generous heart, she had a way to make everyone feel special.

Whether she was sharing a laugh, showing up impeccably dressed to every occasion, Doris brought joy and unforgettable memories to all who knew her.

She loved shopping, gardening, hosting family events, and gambling, you could count on her being at the casino on Sunday.

She was not only an incredible friend, she was the best nana. Her love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will deeply missed and always remembered.

Doris is survived by daughter, Lorraine; son, Jeff; daughter-in-law, Reba; brother, Francis Sargent; grandchildren, Justin, Katarina, Ashlyn, Stephanie; and great grandchildren, Trinity, Keira, and Colton.

A graveside ceremony will be held at the Wheatland Cemetery on August 15, 2025, at 10:30 AM, with Celebration of Life and potluck to follow at Pioneer Hall in Wheatland, CA.

Doris was a joy to listen to and be around. She will be sorely missed. Doris has earned her place in Heaven and I am so happy for her. I am sad for her family and the aching in their hearts but when Doris crossed over they had the best welcome home party for her. We can only imagine the joy she felt walking through heavens gate.

Doris and Jim were great friends and neighbors. Greg was on the Wheatland Volunteer Fire Dept with Jim and I've had many pleasant conversations with Doris in her driveway, at my house, and while playing Bingo. She was a beautiful person and friend. She will be missed by many. May both Doris and Jim rest in peace.

Doris was a neighbor of mine for the past 45 years. I have fond memories of her and her husband, Jim. She was delightful to visit, always eager to tell me how proud she was of her kids and grandkids. I will miss her dearly.
