Dorothy Keding Obituary
April 4, 1921 – January 18, 2021
Dorothy Carey Keding, of Yuba City, went peacefully home to her Savior on January 18, 2021. She was born at home in McClave, Colorado, on April 4, 1921, as the youngest child to August and Anna Reyher. They were a farming family, and Dorothy would always remain a farm girl at heart.
In 1941, at the age of 20, she drove by herself to Glendale, California to live and work. She worked different jobs as a maid, a chauffeur and at the Jergens Plant. During this time, she met her future husband Glenn Keding at a dance, and they were married
in Las Vegas on November 22, 1942.
Glenn served in the US Army. When WWII ended, he was stationed at Camp Beale, so he and Dorothy settled in the Marysville area. They later moved to Yuba City where Dorothy would reside for the next 70 years.
She was always active. Her greatest joy was being a wife to Glenn, a mother to Doyle Keding and his wife Carol, Glennis Wilson and her husband Daniel, and grandmother to her grandchildren, Jennifer Wilson, Christopher Wilson, Corryn Truesdell, and great grandchildren, Janice and Michael Truesdell.
Over the years, she was on a ladies bowling team, a member of a square dance club, and served many years as a "Pink Lady" at the Fremont Hospital, also running the gift shop. However, more than all of her other interests, working in the yard was her greatest joy. Even at 99 years of age, you could find Dorothy in her yard pulling weeds and watering.
For 61 years, she attended the First Baptist Church of Yuba City and is at present the longest tenured member. She was always active in the church kitchen and loved to help out with Vacation Bible School. She encouraged her children to remain faithful to church. Her son, Doyle remembers Dorothy reminding him and wife Carol to always find a good church as they moved from place to place. She would carry church gospel tracts in her purse wherever she went and would leave one for the waiter or waitress when eating out. She always looked for opportunities to invite other friends and acquaintances to attend church also.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her!
