Eva Meraz-Robey Obituary

Eva Meraz-Robey passed away in the early morning hours of January 11th, 2018, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.

Eva was born on July 12th, 1940, in Agua Prieta, a town in Mexico (Sonora), to Raymond and Hortensia Noriega. At the age of 6, Eva immigrated to Colusa County with her mother and father, and her younger brother Sergio Noriega.

Eva attended schools in Colusa County and graduated from Colusa High School in 1958. After high school, she returned to Mexico, where she met her future husband, Jesus "Jesse" Meraz.

After their marriage, Eva and Jesse returned to Colusa where they raised a family. After the death of her husband, Jesse, Eva met and married Richard Robey from Colusa. They were married for ten years until Richard's passing in 2017.

Eva worked for the County of Colusa for 28 years in various departments and retired from county service as the assistant treasurer/ tax collector. She was also a certified court interpreter and worked closely with many local attorneys and judges.

As an active member of her community, Eva served on various Colusa City boards and was a Colusa County Sherriff's Volunteer. Eva was an involved member of Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church where she served as the Liaison for the Hispanic Ministry Coordinator and helped with the annual Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Eva is preceded in death by her two husbands and by her two brothers, Sergio "Sig" Noriega and Armando Noriega. She is survived by her sister, Angie Roy of Lincoln; and by her three children, Jose "Joe" (Cheri) Meraz of Yuba City; Carlos "Charlie" Meraz, (Lisa) of Granite Bay; and Jessica Harvey (Ben) of Sacramento. Eva was also blessed to have seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her family was the light of her life.

The family will be eternally grateful for the love and support the Breakfast Group and her other dedicated friends who were the solid foundation upon which she relied as she fought her valiant battle.

A rosary will be held on January 26th, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. at McNary Moore Funeral Service, 107 5th Street in Colusa and a mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on January 27th, 2018, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church located at 345 Oak Street in Colusa. Reception to follow.

With sincere sympathy for the loss of your beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.
Though we didn't know Eva personally outside of church, it is clear she lived a dedicated life of service to her family, community, church, and friends. May she receive her just reward eternally.
Blessings,
Brent and Maryann LaGrande
