James Bell Obituary

James M. "Jim" Bell of Colusa, CA, a devoted son, brother, uncle, and deeply committed public servant, passed away on November 23, 2025. He was 61 years old.

Jim was born on December 19, 1963, in Sacramento, CA. He grew up in Arbuckle, CA, graduating from Pierce High School, earning an associates degree in Criminal Justice from College of the Redwoods.

Driven by a desire to protect and serve, he dedicated his entire adult life to law enforcement, spanning over 30 years.

Jim's extensive career included service with the Colusa County Sheriff's Office, the California Department of Corrections and the Yuba City Police Department.

He distinguished himself by sharing his vast experience as an educator, teaching the next generation of officers at the Yuba College Police Academy.

He retired from public service as a Senior Criminal Investigator at the Sutter County District Attorney's Office.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Bell and Louise Johnson.

He is survived by his sisters, Rainey Cambra (Brett) and Susan Yee (Russell); nephews, and nieces, Hayden Kalfsbeek, Michaela Glende (Alec), Robert Yee (Allison) and Kristin Yee.

Jim will be laid to rest next to his mother at the Arbuckle Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blue H.E.L.P., The American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choosing.
