James Garner Obituary
James Howard Garner, 72, of Yuba City, California, passed away January 1, 2024.
James was born in Longview, Texas, August 30, 1951, to Dixie and Raymond Garner. He moved to California in his teens and graduated from Vallejo High School. In the mid-1970s he joined his father as a pipeline welder in Alaska and Saudi Arabia. Upon returning James became a business owner of Cal-Sweep, a parking lot cleaning business in Yuba City.
James is preceded in death by his mother and father, and a sister, Judy. He is survived by his five children, James W., Michael, John J., Stephanie, and Brandy, all from the Bay Area; and his stepson, Dan Johnson of Yuba City. James is also survived by his wife of 27 years, Verna Gerber-Garner of Yuba City.
James was an avid reader of history and science fiction novels and enjoyed hobbies with remote control planes, classic cars, and motorcycles.
A graveside service under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel will be held on January 11, 2024, at 2 pm at Sutter Cemetery officiated by his brother-in-law, John Kuster of San Jose.

James was my big brother and even though we didn't grow up together and didn't have the chance to get to know each other I love you with all my heart. Sending my prayers for Verna and his children.

James was my mother's brother. I only knew him when I was a kid 40 years ago. Still hurts my heart that there is no more time to know my uncle. My condolences, R.I.P. uncle James
