James Zanocco Obituary
Well-known professional fishing guide James "Jimmy" Zanocco passed away in his sleep on April 6, 2017, at his home in Yuba City, California. He was 66 years old.
Born in Marysville on February 13, 1951, to Albert and Esther Zanocco (Cassell), Jimmy went to Yuba City High School and attended California State University, Chico. He started his own fishing guide business in 1973. He was known for his friendly personality, both on and off the water, and his skill as a top-notch fishing guide. Jimmy was the patriarch of guides on the Feather, Yuba, and Sacramento Rivers in Butte, Sutter, and Yuba Counties, taking a few young guides under his wing. Some are now well-known guides, thanks in part to his tutoring and mentorship. In addition to fishing, Jimmy liked to hunt ducks or pheasants whenever he could. He was a true outdoorsman.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Albert Pete Zanocco and his mother, Esther Ree Zanocco.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Diane, their son, Aaron Zanocco, daughter-in-law, Wendi Olsen Zanocco, grandson, Jimmy T. Zanocco, his sister, Scharline Schmidt, his cousin, Shirley Cassell Rodemaker, and additional beloved extended family.
Memorial services are under the care of Chapel of the Twin Cities. A visitation and viewing will be held from 4 pm to 8 pm on Monday, April 17, 2017. A memorial service, with limited seating, will be held on April 18, 2017 at 1 pm, followed by a private graveside service. A celebration of life will take place this summer.

I have lost a true friend! Many times Jimmy and I shared fishing Rod's together. He started my love for fishing in the Sacramento river. Never a time more well spent with great man.
