Lawrence Burton Obituary
Lawrence Paul "Larry" Burton, Jr., passed away at the age of 66, on September 26, 2023, in Carson City, Nevada, with his beloved wife, members of his immediate family and good friends at his side.
Larry was a graduate of Sutter Union High School. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and all-around outdoorsman all of his life, eventually working for over 30 years in wildlife management in fish hatcheries in both Nevada and California.
Larry was also a nationally recognized professional photographer for over 40 years. In addition to being a devoted family man, he was a friend of the Native community, a teacher, artist in residence, project evaluator for the National Endowment for the arts and community volunteer.
Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Alice Burton; and is survived by his wife, Terry Burton; his father, Lawrence Burton, Sr.; his son, Lloyd Burton (Kim); sister, Laura Mackie; grandchildren, Layla Burton, Lily Sumner and Natalee Parish; niece, Catherine Mackie; nephew, James Mackie; stepsons, Ken Sumner (Reanin), and Chris Sumner (Daril); along with extended family and friends too numerous to count.
Please join us for Larry's celebration of life which will be held on October 21, 2023, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Chapel, 1635 Clearview Dr., Carson City, NV.

I can't believe his passing was so long ago. We all still miss him as a patient in our dental practice. I still miss his wisdom and teaching ability in photography!

Dear Terry,
Tried calling Larry this morning (August 2, 2024) as I drove through Reno, on my way to an international Taxidermry Show in IA and got an odd message so stopped in Wendover and tried again with the same results and new something was off.
Looked him up in Carson, NV! Yes shocked to see his obit!

I am so sorry to hear of Larry´s passing . My deepest sympathies to his family. I went on a couple of local photography outings with him in the Carson area. He was always in a good mood and lived helping others with their photography. I will always remember him with a smile on his face and a camera in his hand. I regret I can´t attend his services today but I will be thinking of him.
