I had the extraordinary good fortune to have Mike for freshman physical science and sophomore biology in the 1970 and 1971 school years. As others have indicated he was an inspired and masterful teacher, who treated his students with respect. He was also a team player and collaborated with his colleagues in the YCHS science department. I continued by education at UC Berkeley and the University of Washington and enjoyed a 36 year career with the U.S. Geological Survey in Seattle. I am deeply grateful that Mike was my beloved mentor. For many years after I moved to Berkeley then Seattle, I kept in touch with Mike. I extend my most sincere condolences to his family and friends. I shall hold him always in my heart.

Mike was one of the finest teachers I knew. I had him when I was a student at YCHS and later worked with him there as well. He will be greatly missed.

Oh Mr. Moores you were one of the best! You treated your students with respect and therefore was a favorite to many. I am sure you will get many to "Look" up in heaven. Those who know well they know . You were one of my favorites for sure . Thoughts and prayers with Lance and Brian .

I´m so sorry to see this. Mike was a very dear friend and one of the BEST teachers in the business. He was what they call "a natural." I was so fortunate to have spent a summer down at UC Davis with Mike and Wendell Potter a physics professor as they trained us (elementary/middle school science teachers) in a fabulous method of connecting science to our students. Our students LOVED the program! It consisted of a protest to see what the students already knew then led them through a series of hands on activities followed by a post test which the students pretty much aced. The kids knew that learning had taken place and loved science. It was truly the Golden Age of science at Gray Avenue. Mike left a wonderful legacy.

I came to YCHS 3 years after Mike did. We taught in different departments but became acquainted with Mike. Mike was a great teacher and pleasant person to be around. I enjoyed knowing him and know many will miss him.

Mr.Moore was my favorite teacher! I clearly remember freshman science and his encouragement to go on to AP Biology back in 1969/70. He was a great teacher and friend!
He will always be remembered and missed!
My condolences to all of the family!
