Nicholas Meyer Obituary

Meyer, Nicholas John Age 15, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago, IL. Survived by his parents, John and Diane (Ramos) Meyer Sr; three brothers, Kyle Petges, Chris Petges and John Meyer Jr.; maternal grandparents, Richard and Joyce Ramos of Lockport; paternal grandparents, John and Anita Meyer of Aurora; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also survive. Born in Joliet, Living in Lockport, Nicholas just completed his freshman year of high school at Lockport Township High School where he had many friends, including his special friend, Emily. He loved school and all of his teachers, especially Mrs. Craig, Mr. Jeglinski, Mrs. Stachnik, Ms. McAllister, and Ms. Gustafson. He loved spending time and helping in the East attendance office with Mrs. Fraser and Mrs. Bellair. He couldn't wait for Friday night LTHS basketball games watching his dad coach in action. But he mostly enjoyed horseback riding on Big Joe and Big Al at Nova Quarter Horses in Mokena. He had many laughs with his horse instructors Nicole and Ross and had a special bond with our neighbor Paul Bertino. He also enjoyed camping at Silver Lake Michigan with his family watching his dog "Duke" run and bite at the waves. Nicholas had the incredible ability to put a huge smile on your face and dished out larger than life hugs. He had an unconditional love for everyone he met. He was known as our "Nick-a-turn." Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 17, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at Christ Community Church of Plainfield, 12410 S. Van Dyke Rd, Plainfield. Visitation Monday at the church from 2:007:00 p.m. Private Interment Tuesday at Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville. In lieu of flowers please send donations to: NOVA QUARTER HORSES, INC. Mokena, IL.

Dear Meyer family,
I can't help coming here a second time today. I've just thought about Nick a whole lot today, but not too upset as before. Nick was the best friend I've ever had, and I'll never forget him as not only my best friend, but my true love. I may not find love again, but I'm very happy that I got to experience it with Nick. Nick was perfect for someone like me. We were like Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm; we knew each other all our lives pretty much, and our love grew from playmates, to best friends, and to sweethearts. I'll never forget Nick, and I know for a fact you won't either. Nick, and all of you, will be in my heart forever more!

To the Meyer family:
I know that we all loved Nick, especially since I really loved Nick as my love. I really am fighting this sorrow good enough to not let this concern me too much. I know you are too. I hope that you will be alright, and we'll be here for each other.

John, Diane, Kyle, Chris and Johnnie,
Although I couldn't be there with you, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Nick was truly a gift to us and I feel so fortunate that I was able to share my time with him in the mornings and afternoons. Our attendance office will be an empty place without him. I will always remember the good times we shared and how much he delighted in towering over me as he helped out by reaching all of the places that I couldn't. He was such a kind and caring person who will be remembered by all of us whose lives he touched.

Nick was a wonderful young man with a kind heart and a fantastic smile. Every year in our little summer school group he was a friend to all (and even protector to some). I could always count on Nick to try his best, put a smile on everyone's face and pick me up (almost literally) with a huge hug when I was feeling down. My heart aches for his family, his friends, his teachers and anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. I know this fall when I go back to work at Richland I will hear his voice saying hello to me and I will stop to look and imagine seeing him sitting with his dad in his truck, waving to me out the window with a great big smile on his face. You will never be forgotten Nick. Mrs. T

Dear John, Diane and boys, There are no words to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Nick was a wonderful person and a friend to me. My fondest memories of Nick was during our basketball games. Seeing nick sit on the bench next to you John, his smile when the team won or even loss, watching him shoot some baskets or pass the ball in to your players. Watching him come into school with you. I can honestly say I am a better person just by knowing him and I will greatly miss Nick. Heaven must of needed a angel. God speed nick. God speed.

John,
Words cannot express my deepest sympathy for you and your family at this time of bereavement. Nick was my gentle giant. I would purposely print copies on the printer just so that he could run to the copier and give them to me and that would bring a smile to his face as well as mine. He was always willing to help every morning in the office. He will always be remembered and thank you for sharing him with me. Take care.
