Ross Cockrell Obituary

Ross Allen Cockrell was born on June 29, 1943, in San Jose, CA, and passed away on August 29, 2025, at 82.

Ross attended Oregon State University, where he graduated with a degree in pomology. He began his career farming with his parents, Clyde and Ione Lothrop Cockrell.

Ross left the family farm and transitioned to become a Pest Control Advisor, PCA, where his personal touch earned him deep customer loyalty and lasting friendships.

Ross was known for his contagious laugh that could light up any room. He had a passion for life, enjoying scuba diving, duck hunting, golfing, and skiing.

He was a gourmand who enjoyed fine wine and food with a soft spot for Coors Lights. He dearly loved his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Kay, with whom he shared 59 wonderful years; son, Chris; grandchildren, Clyde and Charlotte; sister, Gail Woodward; sister-in-law, Linda Kush; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Cockrell.

He had a good run traveling the world and always said, "Don't cry when it's over, be happy it happened."

There will be a Celebration of Life for Ross on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 11 AM at Hillcrest Plaza.

To Kay and family I was deeply sadden by your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Ross from the beginning of BVAS until his retirement. After 25 years he was the top PCA with an amazing group of customers and friends. He was extremely knowledgeable in the Ag field. Everyone will remember him for his laugh that would light up any room. May he rest in peace.

My deepest sympathy goes to Kay and family, I worked at the Cockrell Station years ago and remember how kind everyone was. So sorry for your loss.

My condolences to Kay and family. I worked with Ross at Big Valley Ag. I was involved in the North State Ag industry for many years and he was one of the most accomplished PCA's in the business . His depth of knowledge was unsurpassed. I was also privileged to have spent some recreational time with him. He was also very accomplished in that area. I love the reference to Coors Light. He will be missed.
