Tejinder Singh "Ted" Sibia

Tejinder Sibia Obituary

Tejinder "Ted" Singh Sibia, 70, of Sacramento died March 6, 2008, at his residence.

Born at Kila Raipur, District Ludhiana, Punjab, India, he immigrated to the United States in 1960. A former Yuba-Sutter resident, he was still active in the local community.

He worked at the University of California, Davis as head of the research library unit for biology and agriculture at the Shield Library.

His memberships included the IVACC; Koh-e-Nur Club; Museum Committee of Punjabi American Heritage Society, Yuba City; and the Punjab Agricultural University alumni association.

A patron of the Sikh Temple Sacramento, he also served as librarian and started the senior's club.

He earned two master's degrees, one in horticulture from Kansas State and another in library science from Emporia State University.

In addition, he was instrumental in developing the Web site www.sikhpioneers.com with history of early South Asian immigrants.

Survivors include his wife, Manjeet K. Sibia, and daughter, Kiran Tej Sibia, both of Sacramento.

Services: Services begin at 9 a.m. Sunday,followed by cremation, at North Sacramento Funeral Home, 725 El Camino Ave., Sacramento. Bhog of Akhand Path will follow from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Sikh Temple Sacramento, 2301 Evergreen Ave., West Sacramento.
