Vincent Meskenas Obituary

Father Vincent Anicetus Meskenas 86, of Marysville, CA, passed away February 27, 2010 at his residence. Born September 24, 1923 in Chicago, IL. A resident of the Yuba-Sutter area for 25 years. He was a Catholic Priest and was ordained May 4, 1949 in Belleville, IL. Father Meskenas was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a Chaplain in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1869, Marysville, CA; member of the Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Assembly 1959 Fourth degree, Marysville, CA. Survivors include his niece Phyllis Gallagher of Crown Point, IN; nephew Dennis Dauter (Linda) of Ottawa, IL; Great nieces and nephews: Christine Gallagher-Janik (Thedore) of Valparaiso, IN, Cynthia Gallagher of Hobart, IN, Debbie Dauter of Ottawa, IL, Tracie Dauter of Ottawa, IL, William Gallagher (Lori) of Hobart, IN; Great-Great nieces and nephews: Stacey Dauter of Ottawa, IL, Nathan Gallagher of Valparaiso, IN, Austin Janik of Valparaiso, IN, Gavin Gallagher of Hobart, IN, Andrew Dauter of Ottawa, IL. He is also survived by many dear friends and loved ones. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 7:00PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00AM Friday, March 5, 2010 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marysville, CA. Visitation will be held from 5:00PM until the Rosary on Thursday and at 10:00AM until the Mass on Friday. Burial will be at St. Casimir's Catholic Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois. Memorial contributions can be made to the Knights of Columbus, P.O. Box 862, Marysville, CA 95901. Funeral services are under the direction of Lipp & Sullivan Chapel. Farewell to our dear Priest, Fr. Vincent. We will have to wait to later to hopefully hear once again one of your homilies that includes the characters from the Peanuts comics. May God eternally bless you - you have surely blessed us.
