CARROLL LAWSON Obituary

CARROLL LYNN LAWSON Carroll Lynn Lawson, 71, of Overbrook, Okla., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at his home. A memorial service celebrating Carroll's life was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Marietta, Okla., with his grandson, Bronson McMillin, officiating. Carroll's ashes were interred beside his beloved son, Scott Lawson, in Legate Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation and viewing was held on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Carroll was born in Maysville, Okla., to the late Lonnie Lawson Sr. and Eva Oleta (Williams) Lawson. He graduated from Ardmore High School with the Class of 1972. Carroll was a proud business owner, known to many as the "Midas Man" or the "Muffler Man." He operated Carroll's Muffler Shop in Marietta for many years before relocating the business to Lone Grove, where he later retired. His shop was more than just a place to fix cars it was a local hangout where friends gathered to visit, swap stories, and sometimes take a gamble on Carroll's famous "double or nothing" payment deals. Win or lose, everyone left with a smile. Carroll loved the outdoors, whether it was spending time hunting, fishing, or riding his RZR. He never missed a chance to play dominoes especially a good old game of 42, which he approached with enthusiasm, laughter, and a healthy dose of friendly competition. He was also an avid bowler and a member of several bowling leagues over the years. On Saturday nights, you could often find him playing a friendly game of pool and enjoying time with friends. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Carroll was known for his quick wit, contagious laughter, and generous spirit. He was the life of every gathering and could always be counted on for a morning Route 44 Coke and some good-natured pestering of friends at 70 West Bar in Lone Grove. He truly had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Carroll is survived by his daughter, Sharla McMillin and husband Brock of Overbrook; son, Dillon Lawson and wife Nicolina of Rowlett, Texas; and his cherished grandchildren, Bronson McMillin, Layne Kinsey, Scarlett Lawson, Viviana Lawson, Domenic Lawson, Dimitri Lawson, and Ravella Lawson; and great-granddaughter, Aubry Oldham. He is also survived by his brothers, Freddy "Don" Lawson and wife Melinda, and Lonnie "Butch" Lawson and wife Kathy; his sister, Lonna Shorter and husband Kenneth; and was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Anthony "Tony" Lawson. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved son, Scott Lawson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends who loved him deeply and will cherish his memory always. Honorary memorial bearers were Casey Lawson, Matt Lawson, Joe Lawson, Brock McMillin, and Carl Lake. Carroll's laughter, kindness, and big-hearted spirit will live on in the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
