As a kid, I saw David as my fun-loving uncle. Somehow I became a character in one of his oft-told stories. I am sure there is a lot I don't know about his life, but the fact that he became one who loved the Lord Jesus stands out to me.

A couple of things I would like to share about our brother David. One, he was named for little Joe Bart, our Dad’s little brother who passed at age three during the Spanish flu epidemic. Two: did you all know David wrote a book. I do not know why but this surprised me when I heard. It is not a ‘published’ book. He photo copied it for family members. Mainly his favorite stories. We found it hilariously funny. Of, course we knew the people or were there for the action. Our neighborhood and family being so many of us, was the most interesting and entertaining of all the hoods. We had an opportunity to choose the Lord Jesus early on . David also enjoyed reading his Bible, His last story I heard was about the little neighborhood boy’s knocking on his door. He had seen them in the street walking by and wanted to invite to ‘church’. Behold there they were knocking on his door. The Lord even answers our thoughts. Rejoice in the Lord always. Joanna

Uncle David was such a wonderful man. I greatly enjoyed the time we would spend with him when we would come down and visit. He was always in a good hearted mood and would make a point to ask each of us how we were doing. He always had a good tale to tell of his childhood or a work story that would make everyone laugh. His passing has really hit us hard but I take comfort in knowing that he was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and I will see him again soon. Good Lans, kid, it's going to be tough until then.
