JANET RAMBO Obituary

JANET JO (LORNE) RAMBO Janet Jo (Lorne) Rambo affectionately known as "Baby" or "Aunt Baby" was born June 5, 1932 to Austin Penny and Gracie (Gaines) Lorne in Burneyville, OK. She departed this life Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center in the Annadale and Holm Ross Suite in Dallas, TX. Janet attended and graduated as the class Valedictorian at Douglass High School in Marietta, OK with the class of 1952. She loved to play basketball and was the guard wearing #4 for her high school team. She attended the Business School at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, OK. Janet married Eugene Rambo on March 28, 1953 in Gainesville, TX. Four children were born to this union: Dennis Wayne, twins, Annette Marie and Danette Maria, and Kerry Dion. Janet was employed by Big 5 Community Services, serving as the Secretary for 40 years before retiring in 2008. Janet was a longtime faithful and dedicated member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Marietta. She served her church well as a Sunday School Teacher, Finance Clerk, Deaconess, and Kitchen Committee member, until her health would no longer allow her to. Janet was a wonderful homemaker and cook. She always had a full course meal prepared on Sundays and welcomed others to enjoy. She is well known for her homemade pies, cakes, and canned beets. She also enjoyed riding her stationary bike and treadmill. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dennis Rambo; grandson, Jeremy Rambo; son-in-law, Rev. Paul Lawson; brother, Mack Williams; and sisters, Rosa Mae Nelson and Lonzetta Henderson. She leaves behind to mourn her passing and cherish her memories her husband of 71 ½ years, Eugene Rambo of Marietta; son, Kerry Rambo and daughter-in-law Angel Gladney of Dallas; twin daughters, Annette Lawson and Danette Rambo, both of Mesquite, TX; grandchildren, LaKeisha Lawson, Janetta Collins and husband Athaniel, Darrien Rambo, Darline Lee, and David Johnson; and great-nephew, Brent Coleman who assisted in her care. The family would like to extend to Brent Coleman our deepest gratitude for your unwavering dedication and support. We also deeply appreciate the support and thoughtfulness of Doris Dailey and Alina Boatner. We would also like to thank the staff of the T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care in Dallas for their exceptional care during this time of transitioning for our loved one and our family. Funeral services for Mrs. Rambo will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Marietta with Curtis Caro officiating and Duane Talley assisting.
