NETA FAYE CARGAL
February 24, 1942 - July 4, 2025
Neta Faye Cargal, 83, of Oklahoma City, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was born on February 24, 1942, in Province, Okla., to the late Russell Marshall Carter and Essie Lynn Edwards Carter. Neta was raised in the Baum, Oklahoma area and graduated from Dickson High School in 1960.
On December 27, 1960, she married James Houston Cargal in Gainesville, Texas, and he preceded her in death. Neta lived in both Lewisville, Texas, and Oklahoma City before returning to the Dickson community. She worked in a variety of roles over the years, including for Aero Commander in Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Highway Department in Oklahoma City, Rock Island Railroad in Dallas, Texas, and Kingery Drilling in Ardmore.
Additionally, Neta and Houston owned and operated the Rod & Reel Catfish Restaurant east of Ardmore in the 1970's. Neta was a faithful member of the Assembly of God Church in Baum for many years and attended New Life in Oklahoma City at the time of her passing. She loved reading her Bible, spending time with family, going on trips with her siblings, and spoiling her dog Pokey.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Kristen L. Parsons and husband Reid of Fort Worth, Texas; grandson, Ryan James Cargal of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Kyler Parsons, Kenley Parsons, Ember Parsons; sister: Reba Burgess of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and brother, Rusty Carter and wife Lana of Blue Ridge, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Houston Cargal; son, James Houston Cargal, Jr; two sisters, Keta Beesley and Billie Miller; and one brother, Charles Carter.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma.
Funeral Service will be Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Watts Memorial Chapel, Madill, Oklahoma. Interment will be at the Cumberland Cemetery, Cumberland, Oklahoma. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma. Condolences may be sent to
