PAULA BOHON Obituary

PAULA GAY BOHON With great sadness, we announce the passing of Paula Gay Bohon on April 16, 2025, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born on October 8, 1957, in El Dorado, Kansas, Paula was a loving mother, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth, compassion, and sense of humor touched the lives of many. In her youth, Paula was a standout athlete known for her exceptional talent in softball. A fierce competitor, she played shortstop and once hit a home run with a broken arma testament to her tenacity. Her sisters admired her athleticism, and she was always the one to beat in their competitive family. Her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren. Paula enjoyed spending time with them, whether playing board games, putting together puzzles, or simply being together. They were her live entertainment, and she made sure to show them how much they were loved and always had "Chick-fil-A money" on hand when they needed it. Paula was generous in both big and small ways. She often gave what little she had to help others, even if it meant parting with her last few dollars. She was known for her kindness, always willing to offer a hand or a listening ear. In her younger years, she would even pick up hitchhikers, offering a ride to strangers in need. A lover of bargains, Paula never let a coupon go to waste, always making the most of a good deal. She made her famous strawberry cake and chocolate delight for everyone's birthdays, treats that became a cherished tradition. Her quick wit and infectious sense of humor brought fun to everyone around her. Paula's humor, thoughtfulness, and loyalty were constants in the lives of her family and friends, and she will be remembered for these qualities. The family would like to thank Valerie and Megan for their compassionate care during hospice. Paula is preceded in death by her mother, LaNora Barnes. She is survived by her father, Barney Allen, and stepmother, Modina Allen; her two sisters, Ava Erger and Gina Johnsen; her brother-in-law, David Erger; her stepsister DeLisa Taylor; stepbrothers, John Phillips, Jimmy Phillips, Joe Phillips and Randy Gentry; her children, Amy Wilson, Jeanine and Aaron Taber; her grandchildren, Breanna Evans, Kaylee Evans, Rachel Reames, Presley Caldwell, Lola Caldwell, and Cameron Taber; and her great-grandchildren Bexley Clark, Breckan Clark, and Kayson Thierry. She is also survived by many dear family members and friends who will carry her memory with them. Paula has generously donated her body to science, but a celebration of life memorial service will be held on April 24, 2025 at 4 pm at Asbury United Methodist Church.

She will be missed. Paula always had a smile and added laughter to life. She was one of those people who added sparkle to everyday. Heck of a softball player. Ornery as well. Prayers to all who loved her.
